4 out of 5 from me! Again with the teary-eyed ending. Lost writers, why you gotta be so cruel??
Can you believe this was the first time Shannon got her flashback episode? It really did well to open my eyes to Shannon's past and how she became the way she is now. I'm totally sympathetic for her. She used to be so sweet, all smiles and soft spoken and dreams of becoming a professional dancer. Then her father is killed in that accident with Sarah (Jack's ex-wife) and the evil step-mother finally gets to dole out all the resentment she'd felt toward Shannon for the relationship she'd had with her father.
Again, I love all the little touches they add! Jack rushing by as Shannon and Sabrina were talking to another doctor at the hospital.
I just can't believe Sabrina. What a heartless witch. Even if there wasn't a will, something should have gone to Shannon or at the very least, Sabrina could have helped Shannon get by until her internship was over. Sabrina didn't even bother telling her that Shannon wasn't getting any money. Instead, she let it get to the point where Shannon's checks were bouncing. If Sabrina would have told her right away, Shannon might have tried to figure things out. Instead, Sabrina let her go beyond broke and into debt. It wasn't as if we saw Shannon splurging on expensive and/or unnecessary stuff. She looked like she was sharing a modest apartment with a friend.
Left completely high and dry and desperate as she was in debt, she had no choice but to ask for Boone's help but Sabrina saw right through it. Not only did Sabrina turn him down but she even went so far as to be sure Boone wouldn't be in New York any longer so that Shannon wouldn't be able to have a place to crash until she got on her feet. Geez, she is vindictive!
It was bad enough that Sabrina doesn't believe in Shannon, throwing at her that last month, it was interior design and who knows if this internship thing will last but that's totally normal. Shannon is only 18 and still trying to figure out exactly what she wants to do but you know that she loves dance. She wanted to be a professional dancer and this dance internship came up that she said was 1 in 3,000 chance to get in, but she did it! Yet not only did Sabrina not believe in her, but Boone didn't either.
So sad. It was really nice to see Boone again though! That's the great thing about flashbacks. Even if someone is gone, there's a chance we may see them again. Of course, it kinda makes you a little sad again to be reminded that that person is gone!
Sayid was so sweet to surprise her with the tent he built her. Man, that was a really nice set-up! Sayid was so sweet, saying he carried the gone because he has someone to protect and when she was about to get up and get water, he insists on getting it for her. Awww! It was kinda frustrating though that he didn't believe her when she said Walt had been in her tent. Well, frustrating for us because we as viewers saw him there but then you have to put yourself in Sayid's position. Pretend you're on that island and someone says they saw Walt. But you know that he sailed off on the raft so that's not possible. Even if you are one of the few people who know about the message bottle coming back, you'd still question how someone could randomly appear in your tent and then just vanish into thin air.
Walt was talking backward again! Lost sleuths ran his talking backward and figured out what he was saying. He said, "They're coming and they're close." It would almost seem like a warning but why would that be a bad thing if the Tailies and the Rafties showed up at their camp? I don't think it's the fact that they were showing up but the fact that Walt knew the turn of events would lead to Shannon getting shot. He appeared to only her at first as if he was warning her and he'd left Vincent specifically to her as if for protection. Unfortunately, despite his warnings, things seemed to play out as Walt had feared. Then again, this seems to be one of those paradox situations you always see when it comes to foreshadowing or seeing the future. Did the event happen as it would have or did it occur because the person who knew what was going to happen created a chain of events that led that person to that exact moment? In this case, I think Walt's warning led to her being there. The reason she was out there was to find Walt. If he hadn't appeared to her, she most likely would still be lounging in her fancy new shelter with Sayid.
So sad.
Gut shot. That's really bad. It was completely shocking. You think there's a chance that the Others would get their hands on Shannon but then, total shock when there's the sound of a gunshot and as Sayid is cradling Shannon, the camera pans up to Ana Lucia holding the gun. Holy shit. I just can't even imagine. Ana Lucia, that is quite possibly the worst way to introduce yourself to the camp. The look in Sayid's eyes was scary. He was hurting and then when he looked up, he looked like he was ready to kill Ana Lucia. And the shocked look on Michael and Jin's faces, followed by the look on Ana Lucia's as the realization of what she'd done hit her. They were all so on edge though. Cindy was quietly taken followed by those creepy whispers in the jungle and I'm sure it didn't help that Shannon was coming running toward them. It was a horrible, horrible turn of events.
Did you recognize Cindy, by the way? She was the Australian stewardess that gave Jack those extra bottles of alcohol on the plane.
Earlier, Sawyer managed to be his funny, smartass self. We were so worried he wasn't going to make it. You see, when they were advertising this episode, they said someone was going to die. We all assumed that most likely meant Sawyer but we know how those writers are. Never would I have imagined this was the death that would occur and in that way!
Okay, what in the heck is with Charlie? He's kinda turning into a douche, taking charge of Aaron. Claire made a good point that it feels like they're raising the baby together and yet, she doesn't remember marrying Charlie, lol! She's got to be frustrated as hell with everyone telling her how to raise her baby. Charlie didn't have to be so rude about it though. It just made it way more frustrating for Claire when she realized that he was right when he said she shouldn't have waked the baby. And wow, is he possessive of Aaron! You could tell he did NOT like seeing Locke holding Aaron. Seriously, Charlie, what the heck is up with you? Seeing the way he was acting almost made me squirm uncomfortably. I really hope he's not using again.
Gosh, I was so distracted by what happened at the end that I forgot the good part that the Tailies made it back. Sun and Jin can be reunited and omg, ROSE AND BERNARD!!! I can't wait for that! I also can't wait for this next episode. It's one of my favorites and practically the whole thing is flashbacks, going over everything that happened to the Tailies during their 48 days since the crash! Ana Lucia gave a brief explanation when she finally told Michael what happened in order to get him to shut up. Well, no wonder she seems so angry and bitchy. Seems the mid-section survivors had it extremely easy. I get the impression all that anger she has is because she blames herself for not being able to help.

Libby: You want to let me just take a look at your shoulder?
Sawyer: What, are you a doctor?
Libby: A clinical psychologist.
Sawyer: You're a shrink? Well, maybe you out to talk to my shoulder.
Libby: How'd you get shot, anyway?
Sawyer: With a gun.
