5 stars from me, too! This episode was great and so well done from beginning to the end, especially the ending scenes, which led us to the current situation... poor Sayid btw. And damn, now I so wanna know what happens in the next episode! Somehow I still have a feeling, that Shannon isn't really dead. Hopefully you gave wrong info in the discussion thread from the last episode to misdirect us, Heidi.
Anyway, this episode filled some of the gaps came up before, though of course it also let come up some new.
I was pretty excited, when I saw that "Day 1" on the screen. And as the title was "The other 48" (in german translation they deleted the "days" behind, so at first I thought it would have been 48 survivors), I assumed it will show us, how the other group has survived till they've met with the raft group.
I recognized that teddy bear from the kids immediately! And when they got kidnapped, it was all clear to me, at least, that this seemed to be the same kid(s) like in the "Other"'s group in the jungle. I wonder, if all of the kidnapped people are walking with them like zombies or forced to walk with them or just don't remember anything? Gah, lot of new questions!
BERNARD!
Man, I felt so sorry for him hanging in that tree, a corpse next to him and not a sign from his wife Rose. I'm so looking forward for their reunion in the next episode! Though it's a bad situation for that...
Oh and I so loved that talk between him and Eko, when Bernard asked him, if there was another afro-american woman seen around. Actually even brought tears into my eyes for a moment, though I already know, that Rose is alive. ^^
I agree with you, Heidi, that this group had a way harder life on the island. No doctor, no Locke (
), less people, a Goodwin (xD) etc. At least they had Rambina on board lol.
I can understand her better now, though I still think she's pretty bitchy sometimes.
Despite, I like her, especially from that point on, when she let it go and suddenly started to cry. That scene with her and Eko was so great! And again teary-eyes as for me. I like Eko, too! And I'm really looking forward to both of their backstories. I already have guesses though.
Ana probably was in the Army, as she knew well about that knife plus her behavior would fit to it, as she's a nice woman, but as soon as the situation becomes dangereous, she seems to fade out everything else, even her own feelings. Well, and she's pretty tough and good at shooting/fighting in general (oh and didn't loose control with the gun, when she shot Shannon out of shock - Gosh, I feel so sorry for Ana now
). I wonder if I'm right with that.
I haven't suspected Goodwin, too. But I was also twisted in mind about Nathan. I mean, that would have been to obviously, really TOO much! For a moment I even thought it could be Libby, because she was the only one, who was pro-Ana right from the start. As for capturing Nathan I mean. And then, when Goodwin "helped" Nathan to escape, I was pretty shocked, as he suddenly killed him!
I didn't see that coming. But from then on it was all clear, that he was one of the Others, though I thought, Nathan could have been either, but Goodwin maybe did because of fear he could talk to Ana or something like that. But well, seems he really was just a normal guy, having problems with being incontinence.
Whoa, it was heavy how Ana staked Goodwin!
I bet she was shocked the same, seeable on her face expression. And again, one of the Others died before could have answered some questions.
Well, Ana asked him some question before at least. Wow, and she stayed pretty calm in that conversation I think. And again, probably a member of the U.S. Army.
I totally enjoyed the scene, when Bernard and Boone were talking over the radio transmitting set! And again it filled a gap!
This show is so well-thought-out!
Oh and I loved, when the transition to the already-happened scenes with the other group of Jin, Saywer and Michael started! Above all, that they didn't show us the whole scenes, but parts of it like doing a flashback. And now it's better to understand, why the Tailie group acted so heavy, as they already crossed pathes with the Others and even had one among them. It actually didn't happen anything good to them yet. Well, both groups thought the other people would be the Others.
Oh but I hated, that Eko really hit Ana, even though she wanted him to do it...
