3 stars from me. This is one of the very few episodes that was less than spectacular.
Charlie's gone way dark and creepy with this random religious fixation. The flashbacks were great. We got to see more of why Charlie is so fixated on family. He had crappy experiences. His father didn't believe in him and wanted him to be a butcher like himself. His mother expected him to "save" them all with his musical talent. His brother, Liam, got him into drugs and then completely ditched him when he decided he wanted to clean up. He sold Charlie's piano so that he alone could move with his family for a new start and left Charlie all alone to deal with his addiction with not a penny to show for the piano Liam sold that wasn't even his to sell. It belonged to Charlie so technically, every cent from selling what he had no right to sell should have gone to Charlie. So sad.
Still though, Charlie felt out of character. Is he using again? I don't think so. I think the island is just messing with his head. He's having these extremely vivid, realistic dreams, one of which caused him to sleepwalk with Aaron to the shore. That first taking of Aaron was entirely not his fault but the rest, that was all on Charlie. He should have respected Claire's request for space. His fear for Aaron's safety was crazy. Maybe it's because I'm not really a religious person, but I don't see how baptizing Aaron (or anybody) is going to "save" them. They have far worse things to worry about on that island.
Man, Charlie has been lying a lot lately and in this episode, so very much. It'll be a good while before anybody believes him or puts trust in him. He straight out lied to their faces (especially to Locke about the statues) and then when they confront him after catching him red handed, he just tries to back-peddle and make excuses without showing any remorse. He's got excuses but not good ones.
I've always loved Charlie so it makes me sad that his image was kind of ruined for me. He's got a huge job of making amends and readjusting his reputation and place in our hearts both to Claire and to the viewers.
In the flashbacks, Liam looked like the walking dead. It's amazing that they even let him attempt to shoot that commercial. I'd have taken one look at him and cancelled or rescheduled the shoot. He's clearly either drugged out of his mind or has a flu so bad that his ass should be in a hospital. Either way, I would not have even attempted to work with him. Speaking of, wow, how desperate are they that they've sold out to make that horrible diaper commercial with a parody of their one hit.
And Liam's girlfriend. She seems really nice but seriously, if the father of my baby dropped our child, I don't think I could ever give him another chance. At the very least, not until he's completely clean. Instead, she takes him back and they plan to move to Australia where her relative will give him a job and he'll go to rehab. She's far more forgiving than I.
Hurley and Libby are so cute! Sawyer is such a brat for what he did but geez, Hurley would be getting nowhere if Sawyer didn't give him that little push. It's weird though that Hurley all of a sudden stared at her so intensely, asking if he knew her from somewhere. Maybe it was just on the plane when he stepped on her foot, as she said.
Favorite quotes/moments:
Ana: You hittin' that? Jack: What? Ana: Plane crash -- you both survive -- nice beach -- she's hot, you're hot. It's what people do. Jack: I'm not hittin' that.
Charlie: You have to believe me. Locke: You've given up the right to be believed, Charlie.

This episode gets 3 stars from me, either. It was actually way too exaggerated. I felt so bad seeing everyone turned away from Charlie and Locke hitting on him, was a little bit out of character in my opinion. Oh, and I absolutely can't understand, why the hell Charlie ended up with taking drugs, when he saw, what they did to his brother?! Honestly, I would hate that damn drugs and never get the idea to take them myself then! The episode was entertaining despite. I totally loved the flashback scene with Charlie and Liam, playing the piano and singing a new written song! I agree with you, Heidi, as for Liam's girlfriend. Actually it's hard to say, if you could forgive without being in such a situation, but I'm sure I couldn't do that so easy. Anyway, I would never want to be in such a situation. Oh, and I hate Liam so much! He's just an egoistic asshole... So cute, how Sawyer interferred with Hurley's little love problem, lol. Well, it worked. Lmao, but what kind of a music video was that in the Charlie flashback??! xD A dance with diapers, haha! Btw, who the hell is pushing the button now?? --------------------------------- Favourite quotes:Ana: "You hittin' that?" Jack: "What?" Ana: "Plane crash. You both survive. Nice beach. She's hot. you're hot. It's what people do." Jack: "I'm not hittin' that." Are there btw any Jack/Ana shippers? Would it be Jana? LolLocke: "Heroin. Are you using again?" Charlie: "Kate sees a horse, nothing. Pretty much everybody's seen Walt in the jungle. When it's Charlie, it must be the drugs." I totally thought the same...

Actually, it wasn't a music video. They were making a commercial using their song with a word changed out so they could sell diapers. They'd basically sold out since they couldn't seem to become famous past that one song.
Btw, who the hell is pushing the button now??
They've assigned a shift. You'll see them mention it every now and again or see someone enter the numbers. The whole idea of entering those numbers has blended into the background for now to make way for hashing out other storylines but don't worry, it'll definitely still play an important part!
