5 stars from me as well! So fantastic!
Yay for Desmond being back! I also really liked him from the few I'd seen him in at that point but by the end of the show, I really LOVED his character!
So much to learn about him. Why was he dishonorably discharged?
It's definitely weird how it seems nobody can leave the island. Is Desmond right when he said they're stuck in a snowglobe? Or did he just not account for the fact that the strong magnetic fields on the island throw off compasses and he just steered himself back by accident? Or did he just get too drunk and not really even try that hard? Lol, who knows! No rescue has ever come but then again, they were 1,000 miles off course, so that part isn't really a surprise. But then Desmond also said that there's nothing else left. Ravings of a man locked up in a hatch too long or did something happen to the rest of the world? So much to wonder about! So many mysteries.
Btw have we seen that Penelopé's father guy in a former episode? He looks somehow familiar to me... Or is it just the actor? Hm..
I think he's just a familiar actor. He's everywhere! I've seen him in so many things and now, I just always say "It's Charles Widmore!!" whenever I see him. His name is familiar though, isn't it? His last name. We've seen it. Remember the pregnancy test? Widmore Labs. Remember Henry Gale's hot hair balloon? Had a Widmore Corporation logo on it. They were hinting at Widmore since the beginning. I love the writers. They are amazing! We knew his last name from the moment we first saw him, when he gave the box of letters back to Desmond. You could see they were all addressed to a Penny Widmore and Charles was referring to Desmond staying away from "his daughter" so this must be THE Widmore.
Libby in Desmond flashback! Though to see her again also made me feeling sad... Plus her story was so sad too.You know what's even more sad? Desmond has NO idea that Libby was on that island. He'd run off long before Libby had ever wandered into the hatch and he'd never been to the survivor's camp until his boat was seen. Nobody can really make the connection between the boat being called "Elizabeth" and "Libby". I mean, it's a common name and what are the chances that the woman who gave you her boat that ended you stranded on this island would, herself, end up stranded on this island? Even if someone does make mention to Desmond about a Libby that had been killed, he probably wouldn't even assume it was the same person. It's so crazy. He may go the rest of his life never knowing it.
Hihi, Sawyer looked relieved, when he found out, that Kate and Jack ACTUALLY have been caught in a net some time ago! xDI thought it was hilarious how he looked so surprised by the fact that Jack had really meant it literally!
Haha, like Jin's shoulder shrug, when Sayid looked at him, after Sun told him she would join the sailor team. It was like "can't say no to the women". I really love this change in Jin. He's going back to the old, loving Jin that Sun used to know. The Jin that had first crashed on that island would not have shrugged, giving into his wife's wishes with a grin like that. It's so great and so strange to remember how much I disliked him at the beginning. Another show of how amazing these writers are at character development.
Awesome! A flashback right before a past flashback (when Jack was seen in the background)! You go, Lost guys!I LOVE when they do that! They do such a good job showing the scene from different perspectives, through each characters' eyes.
Oh, and I would have had exactly the same look on my face as the others around, when Michael told them the truth! How calm Hurley was... (it fits him actually, but I don't know what I would have done to Michael, if I was in such a situation!)...Agreed. The acting is so good. Kate's face with that look of total shock. Hurley's stony, yet mix of betrayed and hurt look. Jack finally releasing all the pent up anger after bottling it so long.
I think Eko is a little bit loosing his mind. I mean, he could have actually killed Charlie! He could have killed Charlie, AND himself. He took over Locke's place of having this wild fixation about the importance of the button. It's like it became his religion.
Hey, was a little bit angry about no one cared for Sawyer, when he was shot, but Kate right away got borne by Jack. Just wanted to say that, even though I know Jack wouldn't want to borne Sawyer, lol. Lol, it was a quick fleeing thing they had to do. Nobody would have gotten away trying to carry the dead weight of Sawyer. I think they all knew they weren't getting out of this but Jack still tried to run and take Kate with him. JATE!!!
So, if the numbers won't be typed, actually everything cracks?! O.OWell, not really cracks. Looks like the button really did have a purpose and the people in the Pearl station were the ones being falsely tested. The island has this high magnetic energy. Someone created the hatch and the button and whatever devices we couldn't see as a way to keep all that magnetic energy under control. The energy would build up and around 108 minutes, it was at bursting pressure so by entering the numbers, it carefully eased that pressure back to normal until it built up again, over and over. I believe Kelvin Inman explained that to Desmond but like a lot of things on the show, we're questioning if it's true or not.
Well, now we know it is true. So we have new questions. Obviously that button hasn't been there since the beginning of time so that means that the magnetic energy wasn't a problem before. What happened to cause it to become a problem?
"NOT-HENRY"!! Ahh I knew it!! He IS their leader, isn't he?? Mr. Big Boss, lol! I so would love to play him in the RPG, once I've learned enough about him! <3Lol!! I knew even before we started the show that you would totally like him and I always pictured him as the type of character you'd play. Just you wait. In my opinion, he's one of the best characters on TV ever.
Omg, my eyes were filled with tears at Pen's letter to Desmond... Oh, and what happened to him after that?? I loved him!Yes! I fell in love with Lost even more when this love story was introduced. We barely knew Desmond and just met Penny and I was already hardcore shipping them and rooting so hard for them to find each other again! And when he told Libby that he'll win the race for love? Well, I kinda fell in love with Desmond right then and there.
I've watched these first few seasons so many times so I got to catch the hint of the letter earlier on. In one of the first flashbacks of the ep, at the stadium, Penny asked Des if he's read his book. It's because she left that letter inside and she was fishing around to see if he'd found her letter yet. I'm glad he hadn't because the moment when he actually did was just beautifully done and just perfect.
Oh gosh, Michael really did it! I had a little bit of hope, that he wouldn't be able to leave his companions there, while he just sails away. What an asshole...I say good riddance, murderer. Let him leave before the Others hold Walt hostage again and send Michael off to massacre the entire survivor's camp. I mean, I know people would go to great lengths for their child but holy shit. He murdered, he shot himself, he lied to everyone, he led his friends into a trap... all without really a qualm.
GAH, what was that in the end??!! Penelopé?? Could Desmond be still alive? I cross my fingers!Me too!! They just can't kill him! Not now that I've totally fallen in love with their storyline. Just a few scenes all in one episode and I'm just totally hooked on Pen and Des.
There were so many random things that happened. What was with that Hurley bird? Did it really say his name? I rewound and watched it several times, listening closely and I didn't really hear it sounding much like Hurley. It was a really weird looking bird though and a huge one at that. It looked the same color green as the trees. Was it some type of weird chameleon bird? Was it a type of bird seen in nature or did Dharma Initiative play God with the animals they'd brought there?
What the heck was with that four-toed statue? Why did it only have four toes and where's the rest of the statue?
It was crazy seeing the end of the tubes that had been in the Pearl station. All those notebooks filled with observations just left in the middle of the jungle to rot. They didn't care about that. They only cared about observing the people in the Pearl station doing their fake job. Those Dharma people are messed up.
Holy crap, can you believe that until Desmond had followed Inman, he hadn't been outside for TWO years? I can't even imagine. And the first time he actually does go outside, not only does he accidentally kill Inman, but he was late pushing the button and thinks he may have been the reason Oceanic 815 crashed on the island. Wow, can you even imagine? Talk about an insane amount of magnetism they've got bottled up if that's true!
Another really great example of seeing things from other angles was Desmond's point of view of Locke beating on the hatch. They both kinda restored each other's hope that night. Locke was broken and lost his faith until that light came on and it was Desmond who turned it on, after having sat there, lost and broken as well until Locke's shouting pulled him out of it.
We got to see this Kelvin Inman that Desmond has talked about and holy crap, we've seen him before! Did you notice? He was in Sayid's flashback. Inman used to serve alongside Kate's dad (the one she'd thought had been her real dad). He's the guy that turned Sayid into the torturer when all along, Inman himself had spoken Arabic. Here's yet another connection that will probably never, ever be known. I don't think Sayid really knew the name of the guy who had made him do all the interrogating, or at least he didn't remember. Sayid will probably never know that the guy who had turned him into the torturer had been on that island for years. Inman died just as Sayid and the other survivors were heading toward their crash on the island.
Terry O'Quinn is such an amazing actor. Locke's look on his face when he realized he was wrong was just so good. Man did he mess up. That poor guy just can't win.
What happened when the button wasn't pushed was crazy! The pressure of the bottled up magnetism just seemed to explode, turning the whole sky violet and creating that weird, ear bursting hum. So insane! I wonder if the people who built the hatch knew exactly what would happen if they didn't contain the magnetic field? I'm guessing they didn't, otherwise, why not just let it do what it just did and be done with it? I'm guessing they weren't sure but had assumed it could be catastrophic, to the point where they told the people working in the hatch that they were "saving the world".
So crazy at the end when Not-Henry walked out! The writers did such a good job of making us go back and forth about that man. He's lying. He's telling the truth. He's an Other. He's not. He's really important. He's just some lackey. Ha! He seems pretty in charge, the way he stepped out and gave everyone orders! Damn, he's a smart, smart man. I think he even got caught on purpose in order to be right under their noses and to learn as much about them as he could. He already knew a lot. Actually, all the Others knew an alarming about of information about the survivors. How the heck did they know all that? They knew their full names, at least enough to put together a list. They knew Sawyer's real name. Where the heck are the Others getting their information? Did they learn all that from Ethan when he'd infiltrated their camp? And why did the Others specifically choose Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley?
Oh my gosh, that ending!! The premieres and finales of Lost are always so phenomenal and many times, mind blowing. Again, I'm kinda sad you aren't watching this while it was first airing because the very ending was one of the many times where we were watching and going, "Wait, is this a commercial or did some other show start or is this still Lost?" as suddenly, there's a snowstorm in some barren looking land and we cut to two dudes sitting in some place playing chess. They go back and forth about a blinking light and run for a phone then suddenly, we're in a bedroom with a phone ringing. You only hear a voice then you see that picture, the same one Des has, and then you see Penny. Holy crap!! It IS still Lost and that's PENNY!! We actually got to see something happening off-island! That made the show even more exciting! The world really is still there. Why Penny though? Who are those guys and why are they calling Penny? They've been stationed there to monitor for anomalies and it appears Penny is in charge of it. Then you suddenly realize that she knows. She knows something about the island and she knows Desmond is there. She's looking for Desmond. Oh man, my hopeless romantic heart is fluttering and my eyes have tears of giddy happiness and joy and I'm suddenly rooting so hard for two characters I barely know!
I freaking love Lost. Every time I rewatch it, I just love it more and more.
