I give this episode 4 stars. I really loved to see Ben so much around in this one, but there had been better episodes so far, which still doesn't mean I wouldn't have liked it, only explains the 4 instead of 5 stars, lol.

However, the excitement before we started this episode (did a virtual watching together with Heidi!) was strong with me. XD I feel sorry for Ben lately. He seems like the poor little puppy nobody wants... Yah, I know, he deserves it, but well.. you know me. That's probably enough for explaination, lmao. But c'mon, digging your own grave? Poor Ben.

My heart made a jump at the sight of Alex in the flashsideways! It was so neat to see them united again, and with her, this time, actually liking him, even if it was just a teacher-student relation. Teacher Ben has a manipulative side as well, what a surprise. XD

Seeing Arzt in the flashsideways was funny, too! XD Although I wouldn't have seen him as a computer hacker, lol.

That scene between Jack and Richard on the island was really intense!! Loved it! Also, I think Jack had changed a lot since season 1.

I always love conversations between Ben and Locke (or MIB now). They are my favorite scenes!

Shit! Widmore's coming... Yes, a villain character, but I hate him. It's not that easy.

4 out of 5 from me as well! All in all, all of Lost is 5 to me compared to the average show, but there are a couple coming up that are freakin stellar! So to help differentiate between the stellar eps, I have to sometimes go with a 4.

I loved that I got to watch with Tony! Yay! <3

Man, Michael Emerson is such an amazing actor. He makes me forget all the awful, manipulative things he's done and I find myself genuinely feeling sorry for him sometimes... until I remember the awful, manipulative things he's done. XD It's like his amazing acting is manipulating me. XD

I loved seeing Arzt again! Locke encouraging Ben to take over was a neat twist. On the island, Ben did not need encouraging for that. He was hell bent on being in control and it was Locke who came along and started to take over that control.

Ben's dad is actually a decent person in the Flash Sideways. Seems they actually had a fairly good relationship. Funny how Ben killed his dad in the real timeline with a small tank of poisonous gas and in the Flash Sideways, he's helping change out his dad's tank for the oxygen he's dependent on to live. It was fascinating to hear them talking and learn that they HAD gone to the island and HAD become part of the Dharma Initiative, but had decided to leave.

It was no nice to see Alex again! She and Ben seemed to be destined to have a connection. He acts almost like a father figure, but in a healthy way in the flash sideways. In real timeline, he did care about her, but he put the island and his love of being in charge ahead of his love for Alex. Something we see him break down about with Ilana with such painful regret.

Gah, that principal was awful! I wanted Ben to take him down. Was hoping he'd do so after Alex got the letter, but most likely if the principal had been disgraced, the letter he wrote her would lose its value.

Omg, Widmore in the sub! That horrible man found the island! I think because Jacob had been killed, the island is no longer hidden and protected.

I really liked this episode. Seeing a slightly different version of Ben is such a treat. I loved his relationship with Alex, although she was his student you could tell that he still cared for her as if she were still his daughter. I feel like his flash sideways version tried his best to be good, yet the craving for power over others still poked through which I thought was really interesting. I like how these flash sideways versions still have a ray of essence from their original selves.

(This is my favourite quote of the episode. I feel like this moment is very pivotal for Ben, because in this moment after Ilana says 'I'll have you' I feel like this is Ben's initiation into finally becoming one of the good guys. I love it!)
