The God of Mischief noticed the awkwardness while they had to stay in the elevator. To be honest he wasn't sure if the music made it more or less strange than it would have been without it. He also noticed the look of the soldier at the entry and Hope's clever tactic trying to made him well-disposed. (And that, of course, without using magic.) Loki sent him a small grin while he passed that soldier who finally tried to managed getting over his distraction and back to maintain discipline. There were many things coming up to his mind which he might have said now to bother the man but he remained in silence. They were already to close to their purpose now. And as much as he liked to mock people he didn't want to ruin their plan - or at least what they called one. "Brother!" But maybe another one wanted to do so. Loki rolled his eyes. That wasn't part of his play. It was real. Sometimes Thor acted like a child which started to talk before thinking. First he wanted to ignore him but then he decided it would be better to act just a little bit more loki-like. "Well, hello, brother. It is an interesting experience to see you inside a cell from the outside. I hope you were able to make yourself comfortable with your current situation. If not I suggest you should ask for good literature." Fortunately his brother kept his mouth shut and just gave him an angry look.

Secretary Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross - tempplay by Kristi Lynne - Ross led the group into the containment zone, a large open area ringed with holding cells. The most secure ones that the Raft could offer, given the strength and abilities of the humans (and non-humans) currently occupying them. And though he no longer wore a uniform, his tone and his bearing were still that of a military man addressing his charges. "Brother!"
"Well, hello, brother. It is an interesting experience to see you inside a cell from the outside. I hope you were able to make yourself comfortable with your current situation. If not I suggest you should ask for good literature."“Ladies and gentlemen," Ross announced, sternly enough to cut off any further banter between the siblings. "We have some late arrivals to the party. I assume that most of you already know each other, so we’ll dispense with the pleasantries.” He had been slowly making his way across the floor, leveling eye contact at each detainee. Possibly spending a bit longer in front of Stark's cell to enjoy the image of the egomaniac being brought down a peg or two. “For those of you who don’t know me," Ross continued, resuming his steps. "I am Thaddeus Ross, the United States Secretary of State. And I am the highest-ranking officer on this boat. Your fate from this point on is in my hands. And I will decide if and when you may be released. So, who wants to plead their case?" He was a man of his word, after all. He had promised a reunion, the two parties were indeed being allowed to see each other. And that would be the extent of it, for now.

"Brother!" "Well, hello, brother. It is an interesting experience to see you inside a cell from the outside. I hope you were able to make yourself comfortable with your current situation. If not I suggest you should ask for good literature."
Peter's grasp of Loki's arm grew tighter as he yanked him closer. "What did I say about bargaining chips not talking?" Quill reminded the mischief-maker.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we have some late arrivals to the party. I assume that most of you already know each other, so we’ll dispense with the pleasantries...."
As the Secretary made his announcement, Peter shoved Loki further into the room. To be closer to the center of action, but also to get a better look at his friends in their cells. He was relieved to see Gamora and Mantis both looking alright by outward appearance. He gave them a self-assured nod to convey that he was totally in control of the situation before returning to a more formal, authoritative stance that fit his Nova Corps uniform.

Rocket somehow felt like he had lost his sense of time. It wasn't because they have to wait patiently. It was because they were able to listen but had no chance to talk to the others and chime in. And, of course, he had to wait acompanied by Drax. On some days it could be amusing, on other days it could be annoying. Unfortunately today was more like the last ones... Suddenly his thoughts were interrupted by a loud noise. It sounded like someone chewing. Rocket looked at Drax and couldn't believe his eyes: His muscled friend held a bag of chips in his hand and ate them with relish. "Dude, you said you haven't something to eat! Where the f@ck did you hide it?" "I hadn't. But I just found it on the floor under my chair." Drax offered the open bag to him. "Want some?" Rocket tried to remember how long it was ago since they've cleanded the cockpit completely the last time... But he wasn't sure about the point in time. So he'd better not try to find it out. "Nope! Thanks, pal, it's all yours." Drax just shrugged his shoulders and continued to annihilate the (probably very old) chips.

Like everyone else, Tony watched as Secretary Ross was entering the stage with team Hope in tow. And, of course, Thor would be unable to keep his mouth shut, thinking it was a good idea to start a chat with his brother as their first priority. These Arguardian people... Or probably it was only Thor. He hadn't met a lot of them yet, to be fair. When Ross neared the cells, fixating especially his thoroughly and with a hint of glee, Tony's attention was all on this man. Yet, he wouldn't allow him to bathe in that gleefulness. So, instead of showing anger about being watched like that, he kept his features casual. “Ladies and gentlemen,""We have some late arrivals to the party. I assume that most of you already know each other, so we’ll dispense with the pleasantries.”“For those of you who don’t know me,""I am Thaddeus Ross, the United States Secretary of State. And I am the highest-ranking officer on this boat. Your fate from this point on is in my hands. And I will decide if and when you may be released. So, who wants to plead their case?""That would be me, Secretary," Tony chimed in before anyone else could, still keeping a casual stance despite all the glass and bars between them. "So, I know exactly how this situation must look to you. Tony Stark, the first to accept and sign the Accords, then upsetting the apple cart, and so on. But let me get this straight: The worm has turned. And by worm, I mean a beefy, purple creature from outer space going to send us all straight to death. I'm not sure whether your assistants have informed you about our little chat earlier or not, or if they have instead, but you might want to play the information we have and the consequences of keeping us captive for keeps. The world needs the Avengers, and they need them now."
Maybe it was not the wisest decision to start everything off like this, but Tony had learned more than once that Ross needed the facts to get thrown at him rather than tiptoeing around the topic with him, pleading their case as he had put it.

While Bruce hadn't felt very comfortable around here before, he truly wanted to sink into the ground as soon as Secretary Ross himself neared them, fixating on them one after another, with his focus, fortunately, seemed to be on Tony. Bruce felt like a criminal indeed, although it had been all Hulk, at a time he didn't have himself under control at that. However, they couldn't know about his change, how he had learned to deal with Hulk and his outbursts himself.
So, while everyone else seemed to make themselves noticeable, Bruce did the opposite. He would not chime in with words unless prompted. Also, Tony had his past with the Secretary. He might know how to talk to him to push the right buttons. But maybe also to get on the man's nerves.

Hope had taken a stance on the other side of Loki, acting as secondary guard over him. She watched Ross, then Tony intently, her eyes drifting to the others, acting as if she was hearing this from Team Tony's side for the first time while getting a read off the others' reactions to what Tony was saying.
The others--all of whom she'd 'never met before today'--looked in serious, full agreement with Tony's words. Hope moved forward to stand beside Ross now to speak more discreetly. "That tracks with what they've been telling me," she said, gesturing toward Peter and Loki, her eyes lingering on Loki a moment as if the past had grabbed hold of her. She then glanced back to the Heroes of New York in the cells, 'recalling' the sacrifice they'd made the last time they and Loki had faced each other, hoping Ross would be reminded as well.
"This all feels..." she glanced back toward Loki again, continuing her casual observation as if speaking out loud to herself, "a bit backward." With a dismissive shake of her head, Hope concentrated on the present and turned to face Ross, speaking even more discreetly. "Sir, if I may. Wouldn't this be easier as a round table discussion? I'm guessing there's a conference room on this floating fortress, perhaps one where we can access satellite imaging?" she suggested lightly. She shrugged noncommittally as if she was fine continuing this interrogation either way but casually added, "We're in the middle of nowhere. I don't think anyone's going anywhere."

"You want to skip to Act Two already?” He gave her a quirked smile of a man who was conducting this chorus. What Stark had said, lined up with the information from Loki and Peter Quill. "Personally, I'd like to hear from...Gamora," Ross began, his steps turning toward the cell of the green-skinned alien woman. "I'm told that you have a unique relationship with this 'purple creature.' How much are you willing to tell us about him?"

Unlike the Asgardians Gamora still kept silence but also attentively observed the new situation. Even when her eyes spottet Peter there was no stir on her face. Just a very little spark in her eyes when their eyes met which only Peter might recognize. "I am Thaddeus Ross, the United States Secretary of State. And I am the highest-ranking officer on this boat. Your fate from this point on is in my hands. And I will decide if and when you may be released. So, who wants to plead their case?" That guy truly acted with self-assurance and authority. Somehow he reminded her of Thanos by the way he stated out his point with just facts instead of any kinds of emotions. She was glad that Tony was the one who decided to speak for them - exactly like she already considered him to be the best one doing so. "That would be me, Secretary," "So, I know exactly how this situation must look to you. The world needs the Avengers, and they need them now." For her taste Tony used a little too much words but at the end he came straight to the point. Again Gamora made comparisons in her mind. This time between Tony and Peter. They both liked to talk abit before they came to the point. Thinking about Peter made her look at him for a moment again. Unlike Tony Peter loves to play a role during his 'great plans'. This time he had chosen a Nova Corps uniform.
"Personally, I'd like to hear from...Gamora," So Ross' eye-to-eye talk between him and Hope was over. Gamoras attention turned back to the secretary when she heard her name and saw the man stepping closer to her cell. "I'm told that you have a unique relationship with this 'purple creature.' How much are you willing to tell us about him?" Now she was forced to speak up. And so she did without showing any emotions on her face. "Thanos raised me as his daughter. There were others who also called him 'father'. He sent us to search the Infinity Stones all across the universe. And he would stop at nothing to reach his plan." She made a short pause. She never was good in using words to convince people. But she hoped she had chosen her words wisely this time and gave it a try: "Tony Stark is right, Sir. You'll need people like him and his... Avengers. And you'll also need my family..." Gamora intuitively looked at Peter again when she called the Guardians her family.

"Well, hello, brother. It is an interesting experience to see you inside a cell from the outside. I hope you were able to make yourself comfortable with your current situation. If not I suggest you should ask for good literature." That wasn't what he wished to hear from his brother but it was typical for him. But this time he didn't allow Loki to provoke him. They all had greater business to deal with at the moment. So he kept his mouth shut and content to gave his brother an angry look. Now it was the time to go forward for round two of this strange kind of fight with the human government. And it was no one other than Tony Stark - a man who seemed to be exercised in dealing with these people - who started to speak up for them and stated out what they all already knew: "The world needs the Avengers, and they need them now." But Secretary Ross was no opponent who gave in just at the beginning. "Personally, I'd like to hear from...Gamora," The God of Thunder decided to kept silence until he would be adressed directly. That guy was one who was accustomed to be treated with respect.

Loki felt Peter Quill's grip on his arm getting tighter. "What did I say about bargaining chips not talking?" "Do not be so rude, Starlord", he whispered back with a short glint of amusement in his eyes. But, of course, he knew that Peter was right. And so he stopped acting like a mocker and kept his mouth shut. He would stay silent and listen observantly until it would be his turn to speak up or help someone out.

But family connections always seemed to complicate things, blur once-clear lines. "So this Thanos thinks he'll find one, maybe two, of these Infinity Stones on Earth? That's his plan? I assure you, Gamora, things tend to go badly for power-hungry psychos who invade our airspace looking for a fight. Just ask Loki here.” Ross gave the captive Asgardian a dismissive wave before stuffing his hands in his pants pockets and resuming his wandering steps. Eventually he neared the cell of the so-called Hulk. “Dr. Banner, you’re uncharacteristically quiet," he remarked. "You’ve never shied away from telling me exactly what you think I should do in a given situation....”

Just when Bruce thought he was off the hook, although he probably should have expected the Secretary to pay at least some attention to each of them in an one-on-one, said man turned his full attention right at him. His eyes tried to focus on the elder, but Bruce couldn't help looking up at him like a dog who knew he had done something wrong.
“Dr. Banner, you’re uncharacteristically quiet,""You’ve never shied away from telling me exactly what you think I should do in a given situation....”
Oh, Bruce surely was no Tony Stark, but Secretary Ross might be right. Maybe it was time to get rid of these feelings of guilt if only that was as easy as said. "Well, I- I agree with Mr. Stark. It would be a fatal error if we hold on to... restrictions to prevent the mistakes being made in the past. I think I speak for everyone when I say that each of us has grown as a person while we drew our lessons from said past." His voice and body language took on more of the self-confidence of the Doctor he once had been and still was. Bruce was more than the Hulk, just like everyone else in this room was more than their worst or difficult version. Even Loki had proved that he had learned from the past, although he might not make that obvious to everyone. Well, for reasons, but still. There had to come a time when even Loki's mistakes must be forgiven. "So I ask you to give us a chance to prove that, to save the world," he finished. As soon as he had finished, the insecurity came back though, slightly visible on his features.

"As pleased as I am to hear that you've made peace with your inner green demon, Dr. Banner, allow me to remind you that those restrictions were put in place for good reason, and with Mr. Stark's blessing." He clasped his hands behind his back and moved away from Banner's cell to resume pacing the floor. "The world cannot afford any more mass casualty events like the ones that resulted from the Avengers' past actions in New York, DC, Sokovia, Lagos. I will not risk more civilian lives to feed your collective hero complexes. This...Thanos may have made short work of some other planets, but they didn't have our resources."
