Drew
He's been trying not to pay attention because he doesn't want to get scared. He's a Gryffindor. Gryffindor's are brave. They don't get scared. And if he doesn't think about her he isn't scared. But he can't help but look when the headmaster starts his speech. He tries to pay attention to that. He really does. But his attacker sticks out like a soar thumb among the first years and all he can do is stare at her. Even the stars forming the house symbols does little to tear his gaze away. So when she takes a step back at the start of the sorting Drew sees. He also knows he can't let her get away. He he swings his legs over the bench, ready to move. If she tries to run he's going to trip her. After all, it's the brave thing to do and he belongs in Gryffindor. He's not scared.

Carter
A Hufflepuff girl about his age came over to ask Oliver if he was alright. Were any of them alright, truthfully? Sure, she was asking if he needed to go to the nurse’s office, which Carter didn’t need. But after the events of today, all of them could use a breather. But Oliver reassured her he was fine, and she went back to her seat as the Headmaster gave his speech. One that Carter usually loved listening to. But today, he was too nervous to enjoy it; glancing at his attacker every few seconds instead.
But then, the sorting was beginning, and he prayed she wouldn’t end up in his house. Because if she was in Ravenclaw, than it wouldn’t even be safe to return to his common room. But surely she wouldn’t end up in Ravenclaw. Hopefully. Or Gryffindor. Because if she was in Gryffindor, than Drew would have to worry about it. Maybe she’d end up in Slytherin. He didn’t know much about her, but he sincerely doubted she’d end up in Hufflepuff. So, he really wanted her to be in … The sorting had started, but that wasn’t what cut off Carter’s train of thought. It was the fact that she was backing up; toward him. Was she going to attack him here, in front of all these teachers and students? It seemed like it. Now he wished he’d picked the inside bench, instead of the one that was in the center. The one that would be easy for her to reach him from.
He slouched, trying to make himself smaller so she wouldn’t see him. Maybe she hadn’t seen him yet; maybe she was backing up for another reason? After all, she wasn’t looking at him. Maybe she just didn’t want to be sorted. Still, he didn’t want to risk it, so he sunk lower, using Oliver as a shield to hide behind so she wouldn’t see him.

As Headmaster Ogden spoke, Gwen shifted in her seat to get a better view. Drew seemed to be holding up at his table, though if Gwen knew her brother- and she liked to think she did- ninety percent of it was bravado. Still, she admired his bravery. Her brother was a natural Gryffindor. Satisfied, Gwen's gaze moved away from her brother to take in the rest of the room. Quite the same as every year but something immediately stood out. Actually, someone.
An order girl, standing heads taller than the other first years, waited in the line for the Sorting Hat. As the first of the students went up, the girl pulled back suddenly. Carter stiffened on the bench beside Gwen, shrinking into himself a bit. Realization quickly set in. That was her.
The desire to let loose a series of Yorkshire swears that would make a sailor blush blossomed in her chest, along with the greater desire to whip out her wand and shove it up the girl's nose as Gwen was too angry to think of any proper hexes. It took all her willpower to not do either of those things and to instead put her arm around the third year's shoulders. "Be reight."
She felt like she was saying that very often lately. Her eyes once again found her brother, sitting safe on his own bench. "She waint hurt ye. She'll get a good braying she even tries."
Be reight- It'll be alright waint- won't braying- beating

Kaeden
She couldn't move, couldn't breathe. Nothing existed to her except the children in front of her and the hat in front of them. Kid after kid went and sat under the hat. Before she knew it, the child directly in front of her started moving forward. Kaeden reached out to stop the boy.
"Don't do it." Kaeden tried to say, but the words fell from her lips without sound and her fingers just barely touched the boy's shoulder. He moved forward with a smile to sit under the hat.
Then Professor Longbottom was standing in front of her. His mouth moved but no words came out, but a slight pull on her hand caused her senses to come rushing back. Suddenly her hand was moving across the professor's face. A string of words rushed through her mind, but none of them polite to speak.
Professor Longbottom reacted quickly, and his hands were quick to grab hold of Kaeden's wrists. "Miss Carson," he said, sounding completely undisturbed, "I understand I may have startled you, but it is your turn to be sorted." He began gently leading her towards the hat and stool.
"No!" Kaeden tried pulling back, but the professor's gentle grip was stronger than Kaeden expected. "No! Let me go! Stop it!" She started trying to kick his ankles or knees, but he laughed and easily dodged her as if her attempts at violence were nothing more than an intricate dance.
He stopped pulling her forward though, and said loud enough for everyone to hear, "Well if you won't come to the sorting hat, then we'll just have to bring it to you." Turning his head towards the professor's table, yet still keeping an eye on Kaeden, "Headmaster Ogden, would you like to do the honors?"

Headmaster Ogden
The whole hall was abuzz with excitement and joy as each first year's placement was met with thunderous applause by their new company. Marius loved the smiles on each of their faces and the renewed wonder of the returning students as well. Until the eldest girl whom he had observed stood before the dais at last. She was so tense everyone could feel it. Kaeden didn't take a step forward. When Nevile reached out for her hand she lashed out like lightening and struck the professor across the face! The Great Hall was deathly silent and the Headmaster shot up out of his seat immediately.
Longbottom seemed to take the diplomatic route instantly but as he summoned Marius he did not need to wait as Ogden was by his side in a blink. The Headmaster did not need to reprimand the girl as an example because he leveled a gaze at her that made its point. From the moment he saw this one insult Anya he knew her, and she had been trouble. Mandated by the ministry he had tutored the girl over the summer months and she was not one of his... chosen pupils. And he was more than certain this was the one Nicholas had warned him about too.
Marius turned to face the assembly then, "It is time for what you all must be eagerly awaiting." the older man said as he clapped his hands twice and the long house tables filled to the brim with many different types of food. As their attention diverted Ogden laid a hand on Kaeden's shoulder and along with the hat and its stool the three of them disappeared from the hall to some place more private.

Oliver
As the sorting went on Oliver saw the apprehension growing in Carter. The younger boy sank lower in his seat as the progression neared the girl he had warned them about on the train. She was edging closer and the Ravenclaw turned in his seat providing a larger barrier between her and Carter. He didn't mind being a shield, he liked Carter and how dare she ruin this for anyone!
Then he saw it, the girl slapped Professor Longbottom! "Bloody hell!" he blurted out before silencing himself again. The Headmaster rose from his seat and was at the upstarts side faster than Burke thought possible. As he began the feast with a clap and the food filled the Great Hall with all those wonderful sights and smells, Oliver did not take his eyes away from the Headmaster. Marius and the girl disappeared in an instant and he knew she was in trouble.
Feeling like he could now turn, Oliver looked down at Carter. "It's okay now, the Headmaster will take care of her. You and Drew have the best help you can get!" He hoped that would put Evans mind at ease and be able to get something in his stomach and make the best of their first night back.

Drew
He can't help but feel instantly relieved when the headmaster deals with the situation. Drew is brave. He hadn't been scared. Not really. But he is relieved that the feast is starting. " So did you hear about the Chuddly Canons? " another student asks. And just like that Drew is drawn into the conversation, forgetting about the horrid events of the day. At least for the moment.

Nicholas
He watches as that girl attacks, moving his wand to get ready to... to... to do something. But luckily for him and the rest of the school, the headmaster knows just what to do. He not only stops the girl from attaking. He starts the feast before disappearing with her. Nick has to say he's impressed by the way the headmaster handled that. Impressed but a bit jealous. He wishes he could handle a situation like that.
Speaking of situations, he should probably go after the headmaster. The man will undoubtedly want to speak to him. But there is a few good reasons not to. The girl seems to dislike Nick already. Going after them could ruin whatever the headmaster tries to do to make her see reason. Besides, he still needs to figure out what Tharin knows if he wants to keep the lad out of trouble. And really, going after the headmaster is the last thing he wants to do.
He could go talk to Tharin now. But that might ruin the peace that the headmaster managed to bring. Nick doesn't want to mess that up. So instead he tucks his wand away before turning sideways to look at Luara. "We'll this is an interesting start to the year." He regrets speaking the instant he starts. She can't really want to talk to him of all people during the feast. He would do better to just eat quietly. Why does he have to be so stupid?

Tharin
When Arizona slapped Professor Longbottom, Tharin couldn't breathe. Oh dang! This is seriously not good! But then Professor Longbottom smiled and calmly called for the Headmaster to assist him. Though instead of bringing the sorting hat, Headmaster Marius started the feast and disappeared with Arizona. Well he'll have his hands full for sure, but there goes my easy chance of speaking to her about her knife...
Tharin shook his head clear and rejoined his fellow Slytherins to enjoy the feast.

Sydney
"What?!" She couldn't believe that mean girl just slapped Professor Longbottom. Sydney ignored the food on the table, and the second Headmaster Marius apperated with that meany, Sydney jumped from the table. She walked quickly to Professor Longbottom.
"Professor, are you alright? Did she hurt you? Some girls have nails that can really hurt when they slap you. My brother taught me that." Sydney narrowed her eyes, carefully inspecting every part of his face.
Professor Longbottom just chuckled, "I'm perfectly fine Ms. Luvwell, though you should tell your brother to be nicer to those girls who slap him. Go enjoy the feast."
Sydney beamed at the professor and quickly rejoined her table, delighted by the food arrayed in front of her.

Laura
"We'll this is an interesting start to the year." Laura had to agree with Nick, it was the most interesting start to the year that she’d ever witnessed. A girl fighting with the headmaster; really, she didn’t see why the older girl had to be trained in magic. Really, in her opinion, they should have just made sure she couldn’t hurt anyone, and left her in the realm of muggles. Of course, that decision wasn’t up to her, even if it would be better for everyone.
“Very interesting,” she agreed, eyes scanning the tables to see how all the students were doing after that. They looked a little shaken up, but were all returning to the feast. “I think things are going to be …” she froze, eyes landing on Oliver again. His nose …
“Nicolas, I’m so sorry,” she apologized. “It looks like Oliver’s hurt himself, and I really should check up on him.” She rose, feeling bad for leaving him alone after his ordeal. “Can we talk more later?”

Carter
"Be reight." "She waint hurt ye. She'll get a good braying she even tries." Carter felt himself relax as Gwen comforted him with her words. She’d protect him, he was safe. At least, he was safe as long as he was near her. Or Oliver, he realized, as the older boy moved to block Carter from her view. Both the older Ravenclaws were going to protect him.
Carter heard all the students gasp, but didn’t see what had happened himself, due to Oliver blocking his view. "It's okay now, the Headmaster will take care of her. You and Drew have the best help you can get!" The headmaster? What in the world had she done? Not that it really mattered, she was gone, and the more trouble she got herself into, the less likely she was to hurt him or Drew.
“Thank you. Both of you,” he said, before starting to load up his plate with food. He wasn’t really all that hungry; he was still on edge, still half expecting something bad to happen. Still, he wanted to feel better, and for the older kids to not worry about him, so he took a bite of meat, letting the savory flavors calm him. Everything was going to be okay, at least for now. He should try to relax, and enjoy the feast.

Nicholas
"Very interesting," she states as her eyes scan the crowd. Yep. He's a fool. She isn't interested in him. She propably only responded out of some feeling of obligation. "I think things are going to be..." She trails off, unable to even finish talking to him. He is a fool. A complete and utter fool. It he was skilled enough to pull off a vanishing spell he might very well do so. But he isn't and he can't do a thing as she finally turns and looks at him.
"Nicholas, I'm so sorry," she states. Here it is. Here is where she will make up some excuse, some reason for them not to talk during dinner. Which is fine. Really. He has enough to think about without making small talk. "It looks like Oliver's hurt himself, and I really should check up on him." She is already rising. Well. He hadn't realized his company was so undesirable that she has to leave. But no, that's not fair. Mr. Burke really is injured. And as the nurse Laura has to help him. It's her job to help him. To help people. To help Nick. Which means before when they were talking... had she really cared? No. No, she had just been doing her job. "Can we talk more later?"
"Of course," he agrees, face going neutral (he hopes) with a great deal of effort. He rises then. Movement hides emotions after all. If he goes on to the next thing, if he keeps busy, no one will notice he's upset. Not even himself. "I need to talk to a prefect anyways," he states. Might as well set up a meeting with Tharin now if Nurse Ellis is going to ruin the status quo by checking on Mr. Burke. And then he is off, not waiting for a response.
Last name. He'll have to use the lads last name if he wants to not show favoritism. He hates that. He hates it he hates it he hates it. Why tonight? Why is everything bad happening to him tonight? Ugh. He will need some Johnny Walker later. "Mr. Drake." He wines instantly at his tone. It was harsher than intended. And of course he had started speaking behind Tharin. Not a great way to go. He needs to fix this.
"After the meal could you come to my office to discuss the problem you were helping me with?" There. That was a softer better tone. And an explanation for the nosy students who enjoy making up rumors. He thinks that might be an acceptable recovery. Tharin will eat and then come up to his office, after Nick has had a moment to compose himself hopefully. Then he will have the full story and be able to help Tharin out with the headmaster if it comes to that. Perfect. He likes this plan. Now he just needs Tharin's responce.

Tharin
"Mr. Drake." Professor McCormick says harshly. Oh come on! Am I seriously in trouble for moving to block the exit during the ceremony? Tharin sighed and turned to answer to professor, but he was already speaking again in a much softer tone. "After the meal could you come to my office to discuss the problem you were helping me with?"
What more could he possibly want to talk to me about? Tharin cleared his throat, "Uhm, sure. I mean, yes sir, I mean, professor." Tharin ran his hand through his hair. What is wrong with me today? Can I do nothing right?

Anya watched from her spot as one after the other of the first years took their place on the stool and had the hat placed upon their head. It just dawned on her that everyone was wearing those silly robes. She scrunched her nose. "Hopefully that's just a welcome back formal meal thing," she thought but had a feeling those old timey robes were the school uniform. Even the professors and headmaster were wearing them. She was not a fan of the idea of wearing one herself. With her way of thinking automatically on sneaking about, she couldn't help thinking the baggy things would make it difficult to efficiently move around or get to wherever she wanted to be.
After the newness of watching a few first-years get sorted wore off, she wandered over to the table. It was filled with enough food to feed a large family, some of it familiar and some she'd never seen. So many desserts! She circled the table once before taking a seat and filling her plate with various items.
Anya ate quickly, anxious to get this menial task done so that she could continue to explore. That done, she placed a few cookies into a napkin, breaking off a little piece of cookie and chewing thoughtfully as she wandered the room. For a large room, it was rather sparse and she found she'd finished her little tour quickly, just in time to hear a rise in commotion in the Great Hall. She rushed over, making it just in time to see Marius poof out of the room with the girl who'd flipped her off.
"Big surprise," she thought with a roll of her eyes.
She sighed. Who knew how long that was going to take. She wasn't used to sitting around so long in one place and she definitely wasn't used to the noise of a massive room of people. It was a bit suffocating even despite the fact she was alone in this room. Wandering back to a door she noticed, she briefly hesitated before opening it and wandering out.

"Uhm, sure. I mean, yes sir, I mean, professor." Well, looks as though he failed at keeping the lad from getting nervous. He probably should have expected that. Students always get nervous around teachers. And besides, he seems to be on a roll with failure tonight.
"Good," he states before turning. He needs to get out. He needs to get away from people. He needs time and space to breathe. And he doesn't care what the rest of the school thinks of him leaving. They can think whatever they want. They already do anyways.

Severus didn't care about the other teachers on the table, even didn't care about the students. While he was thinking about a way to abscond without attracting attention, he just got to hear a few scraps of converstaion around him. He didn't care about it anyway. Severus felt his gaze starting to become blurred a little. This wasn't good at all. He needed to abscond as fast as possible.
"No! Let me go! Stop it!", one of the first year students suddenly drew his attention to the hat sorting ceremony. Geez, couldn't they just put on the damn hat on the kid's heads real quickly, so that this annoying feast finally will come to an end? A slap resounded through the hall, dipped everything into silence. While the teachers next to him looked shocked or even uttered a sound of dismay, on Severus' lips was shown the hint of a smile. Well, this gave at least variety to the ceremony.
"It is time for what you all must be eagerly awaiting.", the headmaster turned to face the assembly. Together with the hat he and the rebellious girl disappeared from the hall with the help of magic.
"We'll this is an interesting start to the year.", he heard one of the teachers say. Obviously the one, who cut him off before. Severus wasn't interested in following any of the conversations, above all not until he managed to leave to take his next dose of the most delicious drink. Out from the corner of his eyes he saw the teacher rise and walking to one of the students, though they already were to far away to identify the student's face. Not that it would have been worth to catch his attention anyway. Instead it layed on a student, obviously the girl on the headmaster's side before, walking around on her own and disappeared through a door. Severus had a short look around. Everyone seemed to be involved in conversations or busy shoveling the buffet. Maybe this was the right moment to make himself scarce as well. Noiselessly he raised from his chair and walked in the teacher office's direction. He just needed to be alone somewhere. Hopefully no one would notice. At least the annoying headmaster was busy giving a sermon somewhere else.

Sydney
The welcome back feast was just as incredible as it had been both years before! Sydney was still jittery with the excitement of being back. She bounced in her seat as she ate and shared stories of summer with her friends. Samantha Joe, a fifth year, got to go to Australia!
"Who is that?" a second year Hufflepuff asked, pointing to a professor with dark glasses on.
"Oh that's just our new potions professor, Professor Boyle. I heard he went partially blind because one of his past students at a different school was fairly clumsy and made something explode. It was pretty sad really. Professor Boyle jumped in the way and took the worst of it. Though that may just be rumors." Samantha answered.
"I'm going to go say hi!" Sydney hopped up and almost skipped to where Professor Boyle was now standing.
"Hello Professor Boyle! My name is Sydney Luvwell." Sydney stuck at her hand and smiled at him.

Laura
Laura walked over to the Ravenclaw table, slightly surprised that Nick had business of his own to attend to. It seemed like he really had a rough time before the ceremony. Still, she’d have to worry about him later. Right now, there were students that needed her attention. Well, one.
“Mr. Burke?” she questioned, concerned. She made sure to speak softly, so only those closest to him could hear. “I should probably take a look at your nose.” There was dried blood all over his face, and he certainly wouldn’t enjoy the feast that way. Besides, while someone might have helped him, Laura didn’t want him to be in any pain. She should make sure everything was taken care of properly.

Oliver
He was just letting himself get lost in the moment, the wonderful smells overwhelming his senses when someone walked up behind him. "Mr. Burke? I should probably take a look at your nose.” Turning in his seat Oliver looked up to see the school's nurse standing there with a concerned expression on her face.
He tried to remember what had indeed happened again but nothing was coming to him clearly. "Madam Ellis, I just had a mishap getting into one of the carriages I suppose. It's nothing too bad. I had some help with the worst of it." The boy finished giving Gwen a thankful smile. "I don't think you'll find much else, I feel well enough."

Relief washed over her like the tide as Headmaster Ogden apparated out of the Great Hall, taking the unruly girl with him. The headmaster would take care of everything, like always. In fact, Gwen would be flummoxed if the girl wasn't finding herself right back on the train home after hitting Professor Longbottom like that.
Certain that the girl was being dealt with and thankful that Drew now seemed deep in conversation with one of his housemates- about Quidditch no doubt, she thought with a wry smile- Gwen was finally able to give her full attention back to the Ravenclaw table, now filled with all sorts of serving dishes and plates of the most delicious looking food. The house elves had really outdone themselves this term. As she began helping herself to the feast, her mind already going over a plan to sneak some back to Jake, a quiet voice interrupted her thoughts.
“Mr. Burke?” “I should probably take a look at your nose.”
It seems they would not have to seek out the nurse after all, as Madame Ellis had found them. Gwen shouldn't have been surprised- she often believed that the infirmary matron had a sixth sense allowing her find injured students.
"Madam Ellis, I just had a mishap getting into one of the carriages I suppose. It's nothing too bad. I had some help with the worst of it." "I don't think you'll find much else, I feel well enough."
Gwen returned Oliver's smile even as her mind clouded somewhat. The feeling that there was much more to Oliver's injuries lingered and that just didn't set well with her. Still, she would have to wait to speak to Oliver alone about her concerns. No need making a mountain of a molehill until she had more facts, especially when poor Carter still seemed tense. "I tended it with a healing spell, Madame. Episkey. But it could still use a looking over."

The feast was much different than Donnie was used to back at Mahoutokoro and looked nowhere near as healthy and a lot less fishy. His stomach sighed as the banquette stretched out before them while Sho screeched loudly in joy from Donnie's shoulder as he witnessed the options upon the table.
"I know Sho. I know. Food. Glorious food."
Sho swan dived off Donnie's shoulder into a bowl of fruit salad. Donnie looked down at his furry companion with a frown.
"You know I'm gonna have to bath you again right, but I aint even mad. I would do it too buddy."
Sho was know sitting with his back against the side of the bowl his arms outstretched resting along the top it looking like one would in a spa or hot tub. Donnie then proceeded to take something from each plate and take a bite out of it before resting it on his plate. Throughout the dinner the pair ate like the kings they thought they were.

"Hello Professor Boyle! My name is Sydney Luvwell.", a female voice suddenly made him stop. Inwardly eye-rolling Severus turned around very slowly to take a look at the gadfly, even though he wasn't interested in the who-it-was question anyway.
"Hello Mrs Luvwell.", he answered reluctantly. As much as he tried to hide his displeasure here, it was covering on his face somehow anyway. Above all this was a very bad timing for smalltalk, never mind how much he hated smalltalk in the first place. "I hope you are enjoying the feast.", he added, as he had the feeling to have to add something, looking into the girl's expectant eyes. Severus' visual field worsened again. It really was time to get out of here. "Why don't you go back to the others and exchange holiday experiences?" Severus didn't know any of the students yet, but he guessed that this girl wasn't a first year student.

He did appear to be fine. Of course, there could be some greater damage that she should look for. But no need to make the poor boy miss the feast. “Well, why don’t you enjoy the feast, and come to my office afterward. Just so I can make sure it isn’t worse than it seems. But I think you’ll be okay.” She pulled out her wand, muttering “Tergeo,” getting the remaining blood off his face. “If you don’t come by later, I’ll come find you,” she warned gently, a small smile on her lips to show she was teasing; sort of. She did need to check up on him later.

Carter
The fact that Nurse Ellis thought Oliver was okay put Carter at ease. Everyone was safe, and he really should try to enjoy the feast. He let the older kids talk to the nurse, while staring at his food. He was acting like such a baby, needing Oliver and Gwen to protect him. Drew didn’t need anyone; he was talking and laughing with his fellow Gryffindors. Even the first years were fine to sit with people of their own age group. And he’d beaten her. Why was he so terrified of what she would do to him?
He picked at his food, wondering how he could be such a coward when his best friend was a Gryffindor.

"Hello Mrs Luvwell." The professor answered, sounding somewhat tired. "I hope you are enjoying the feast." he paused, "Why don't you go back to the others and exchange holiday experiences?"
Sydney giggled, "Oh we already have Professor, but I was wondering, is it true what they say about you being a hero? That would be very rude."

There was a bit too much fuss over him for his liking. The truth was not so much embarrassment, accidents happened, but it was something else. The problem was he didn't know how to really handle all of it. It might not seem like much to anyone else but today was his first for a lot of things. He made a friend, he had the opportunity to stick up for someone, and he got into his first fight apparently. And now the nurse was making a special trip across the great hall, in front of everyone, to see if he was okay. It had always just been him and Jake for all these years and now this... It scared him but... he liked it.
Smiling to himself at that moment he just turned his head to look Gwen in the eye. Oliver opened his mouth to speak when suddenly he snapped it shut. Over his fellow students shoulder he could clearly see that the Headmaster had reappeared! "Gwen, look!"

Headmaster Ogden **Marius enters from Headmaster's Office**
He would just have to trust all would be well when he returned to his chambers. This could not wait any longer. Taking a moment to allow his presence to be seen, the Headmaster reached his hands above his head and let out two amplified claps to bring everyone else to attention. The professors behind him would already know what he had to say but some of them still had that glint of excitement in their eyes. This was big news.
"Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws... Slytherins! We have something special for you this year. Something none of you have experienced but in text only. You will all behold a time honored tradition that will enthrall and entertain these halls once more. This year marks the return of a tournament as old as Hogwarts itself. One which will test its competitors every ability, those select few as they take their steps towards immortality! Mark my words it is not for the faint of heart as it is full of peril! But to be chosen is an honor in itself, success or failure, you will go down in history. As you are enjoying what has been prepared for you, prepare yourselves. For the Tri-Wizard Tournament returns!"
At that point the goblet was revealed upon the dais next to Marius. "The Goblet of Fire will select the champions from each of three schools. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Durmstrang Institute, and Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. What you do not know is this year the goblet will choose teams from each school. Two students will accept this challenge in a binding magical contract. Sixth years and up will be considered. And do not think to fool the Goblet. The ministry has provided its finest... To see to it these rules stand firm... The selection will be finalized before our own celebration of All Hallows Eve, then there is no turning back. Good luck!"

Drew
The headmaster comes back and waves for attention. Drew silences the kind next to him with a gentle elbow as he awaits the start of this next speech. It’s odd actually. It’s too soon for a dismissal speech, right? He goes on and on about something big and Drew shifts, getting impatient. Wait, tournament, peril, honor? That sounds like “…the Tri-Wizard Tournament returns!" The goblet appears next to the headmaster and Drew finds himself excited. Sure he knows he won’t get to enter the tournament, but he can watch. That should be awesome too.
He hears more rules, only half paying attention. He really just wants to start discussing this with the others. Durmstrang, Beauxbatons, yeah yeah yeah. Teams! That sounds awesome! He wiggles in his seat, ready for the speech to be over so he can talk about it. Finally it is and he turns to his friends excitedly. “This is awesome!” they all chorus at the exact same time. And then they get into specifics. Drew is sure this is going to be the best school year ever.

"Oh we already have Professor, but I was wondering, is it true what they say about you being a hero?" A hero? Whatever gave her that idea? "Did you really lose most of your eyesight by saving a student's life at the last school you taught at?" So, his glasses were the reason. He had to be careful as for an answer. But then, nobody here knew much about the REAL Professor Boyle and if he had taught at another school before... actually, even he didn't know. Just as Severus was about to open his mouth for a response, the girl continued talking. "I don't mean to invade, sir."... and talking. "I just wouldn't want untrue rumors to be being spread about you. That would be very rude."
As she seemed to finish her speech, Severus forced himself to show a feeble smile. "Sometimes it's better to just believe in rumors, Mrs Luvwell. You wouldn't want to know, if it had something to do with nosy little students, would you?" The feeble smile somehow changed into a devilish one, only formed in the corner of his mouth. That was hopefully enough to silence her and make her walking back to her seat. But even if not, Severus anyway wasn't patient enough to wait a reaction, so he turned around with repeating one more time: "Enjoy the feast."
Just as he did two steps to leave the hall, a familiar voice sounded through it. Eyerolling Severus stopped, but without turning around.
Not this thing..., he thought, when the Headmaster has finished his speech. The Tri-Wizard Tournament. Every five years he had to hear this, back in the years, he offically taught at Hogwarts. He remembered the year, in which someone had thrown Potter's name in it. At that time Severus had been pretty sure, that all of this was another way to pay attention, but later he learned the real reasons. Severus shook off the ghost of the past. The Tri-Wizard Tournament was annoying him, but seeing from another side, it could be a good chance to wandering around in Hogwarts' outlying corners to search for what he came here. All teachers and most of the students will be busy with preparations. The smile came back to his lips. Fully in thoughts he didn't realize, that he still was standing in the middle of the hall, back-turned to the headmaster's desk, actually running out of time...
